High silicon ductile iron

The development of new materials enables Gieterij Doesburg to construct lighter castings. By developing ductile iron with a high amount of silicon, Gieterij Doesburg created a material with the perfect combination of high tensile strength, yield strength and elongation.

By means of process optimisation and using specific alloys, Gieterij Doesburg is able to produce this type of ductile iron.

Gieterij Doesburg is continuously researching new materials in its own laboratory. In cooperation with engineering, new materials are tested and checked as to their reproducibility before taking them into production.

Thanks to thorough monitoring and the employment of high-end measurement devices, high quality is warranted. The materials are tested in Gieterij Doesburg’s in-house laboratory for mechanical characteristics assessed by means of DHS-imaging software analysis.
